Trudy Gail Plemons Wells

March 1, 1955 - October 12, 2019

Trudy Gail Wells, 64, of White Deer, passed away October 12, 2019 in Pampa.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Lane of Community Crossroads Church of White Deer, officiating.  Burial will follow at Memorial Heights Cemetery in Lefors under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Trudy was born on March 1, 1955 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Jerry and Lloyd Plemons. As a young girl her family moved to Texas, living in Perryton and eventually Pampa and she graduated from Pampa High School from the class of ’73. A few years after graduating, she enrolled into the nursing program at Frank Phillips College and later to Amarillo College and it’s there where she found her true calling and passion. Trudy’s devotion to mentoring new nurses and caring for all her patients was second to none. Trudy would later meet the love of her life, Thomas Byron Wells, Jr., and they married on May 11, 1984 in Pampa, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 2006.

Besides her fondness for healthcare, she filled her time with sewing, cooking, and baking. Trudy waited until her early thirties to have her two children, so she helped care for her nieces and nephews and was a “rock” to all her family. If you were a family member or friend or she couldn’t remember your name, then most likely she would affectionately call you “squirrel”! Trudy will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and she will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Byron Wells, Jr.; and by sister, Laquita Belflower and by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Byron Wells.

Her survivors include her daughter, Sarah Vallejo of Amarillo; her son, Thomas Wells of the home; a granddaughter, Isabella Vallejo of Amarillo; two sisters, Sharon King and husband Calvin of Abilene and Verna Schroeder and husband William “Bill” of Pampa; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family; and last but not least, her beloved dog, Little Lady Athena.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM, Monday, October 14, 2019 at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to PAWS, P.O. Box 2095 Pampa, TX 79066-2095.
