Sherilyn Ruth Sayles Brooks

November 30, 1955 - February 12, 2009

Sherilyn Ruth Brooks, age 53, of Tulsa, OK, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital. 

She was born on November 30, 1955, in Greenville, TX, to John Earl and Edith Sayles. She was the oldest of four children born into this union. Sherilyn graduated from Pampa High School in Pampa, TX, in 1973. She also attended Frank Phillips Jr. College in Borger, TX. In June of 1975, Sherilyn was given away in marriage by her favorite uncle, Joe Mack Sayles, to Ben Melvin Brooks.

Sherilyn accepted Christ at an early age and later in life moved to Tulsa where she united with Greater Union Baptist Church by Christian Experience on April 11, 1993. She was employed as a bus driver for Metropolitan Tulsa Transit from May 7, 1984, until February, 2001. She later became employed for Bill White and Company from 2002 until 2006. She enjoyed driving charters and always looked forward to driving at Halloween and the Christmas Lights Tour.

Sherilyn enjoyed her many wonderful friends and was a "natural" when it came to BINGO.

Sherilyn leaves many precious memories to cherish by her immediate family, including children Melvina Sheree Brooks and A. C. Marshall and wife, Kalia; three grandchildren, Chrishaun Brooks, Dominic Benton, and Lakia Marshall, all of Tulsa; her mother, Edith Sayles and special friend, Leslie Williams of Pampa, TX; a sister, E. J. Sayles of Los Angeles, CA, and a nephew, A. J. Noel of Los Angeles, CA. Also, many, many other close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John Jr. and David Michael (August, 1971), and her father (August, 1993).
