Glenda Ann Helms Bye

April 20, 1955 — January 15, 2023

Glenda Ann Bye, 67, of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in Amarillo.

 

Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.

 

Glenda was born on April 20, 1955, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Wilma Helms. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Pampa. Glenda grew up and attended school in Pampa. On February 23, 1973, Glenda married the loved of her life, Dewey Bye. In 1984, they moved to Skellytown, where she raised her family.

 

In 1988, she enrolled at Frank Phillips College in Borger, where she later received her associate degree in nursing in 1990. Glenda worked as a nurse in Pampa for several years, first at Pampa Regional Medical Center as an OB assistant. She later worked for Dr. Meganne Walsh as one of her nurses, until the practice moved to Amarillo. Glenda then worked at Coronado Healthcare Center, until she decided to stay at home to take care of Dewey and his declining health. He preceded Glenda in death in 1998.

 

Glenda moved to Pampa in 2015. She was a homemaker for the rest of her life and had many hobbies that she enjoyed. She loved to garden, fish, paint, and make crafts. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her grandkids. Glenda loved her family dearly, and they will miss her very much.

 

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dewey Bye; her Granny; granddaughter, Maddysen Helms; and a niece, Mandy Medley.

 

She is survived by her sons, Chad Helms and wife Melita of Pampa and Justin Bye and wife Heidi of Amarillo; daughter, Tina Mitchener of Amarillo; three grandkids, Kristen Helms, Austin Bye, and Addison Bye, all of Amarillo; sister, Debbie Thomas of Pampa; brother, David Helms of Pampa; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
